Nigeria’s Gloo.ng is promising two hour deliveries

2hours

Nigerian ecommerce website, Gloo.ng has unveiled an express delivery service that will deliver the items you order from its website in two hours, according to a post on its blog. Two, as opposed to three, which is the lowest any Nigerian e-tailer I’m aware of has guaranteed. Gloo says the service is in response to demand from “busy homemakers”

But there are quite a few conditions that need to be met to access the service. Two hour deliveries are available for only orders made between 10am and 5pm of value between N4000 – N8000, and is not applicable to home appliances. Pay on delivery does not apply as well, you have to pre-pay. You can’t use it on Sundays. Last and certainly not least is that said express delivery will set you back N999.

That’s a long list of conditions, but that shouldn’t stop the busy homemakers to who’s demand Gloo says the service was created. I guess to a shopper who wants their item “now now”, one hour is a huge difference. The only question is if the difference and convenience is worth N1k.

The two-hour express delivery service from Gloo.ng is launching in beta, so deliveries are being limited to a few locations. Specifically, Lekki, Victoria Island, Ikoyi and Lagos Island.
