I took my first ride in an Uber a couple of months ago, when I moved from Abuja to Lagos for this job. Uber wasn’t available in the capital city back then, and people wondered if they’d ever come since our cabs (unlike the ones in Lagos) are mostly clean and dirt cheap (I see what I did there). When I finally took a ride, I was more curious than anything else about what it was like behind that wheel. Green as I was, I wanted to do some undercover Uber driver, investigative journalism thing but Bankole promptly reminded me that it’s probably not a great idea to spend one month undergoing training et al just to write one lone article.
I’m pleased to announced that this Friday on Radar, we’ll be hosting an AMA (Ask-Me-Anything) session with a part-time partner and Uber driver named Gbenro Ogundipe. If you’d like to know what he eats for breakfast, how much he makes in a day, when Frank Ocean is releasing his album, what it’s like meeting so many different people or whatever else, really, now’s your chance. I’m penning down my questions already.
Sound good? Register now, and we’ll save you a seat on Friday.
