The search is real. I’m talking about the search for scholarships lots of Nigerian kids have to go through. You see, throughout my school years, my mum was convinced it was God’s plan for my life to get a scholarship. Even though I wasn’t very enthused about the entire thing (probably because I wasn’t the one bearing the financial brunt), I’d spend time Googling aggressively, looking for some Oil company-sponsored scholarships to latch onto. Meh.
ScholarX is an app I found a few days ago that claims to be an “easy way to find and apply for Scholarships”, and it’s marketed towards Nigerian students. They operate a two-tier system, where some scholarship opportunities are made available to everyone who downloads the app for free, but reserve a few “hidden” ones for users who agree to pony up ₦500/year. After making the ₦500 payment, you’ll be given an unlocking code that’s valid for the next one year. So, how does it work?
