Women’s Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC) is raising funds on Global Giving to help up to 100 girls attend next year’s W.TEC Technology Camp, and they need to raise $5,000 from 40 donors by September 30.
The W.TEC Technology Camp is a 2-week technology education and mentoring programme with the objective of helping girls develop an early interest in computers and ICT in general. It happens in Lagos every year and young girls from all over Nigeria participate (it’s a residential camp, so accommodation and feeding are sorted).
For next year’s programme, W.TEC wants to raise $20,000 to give more young girls the opportunity to be exposed to technology. In their words, “We meet so many brilliant girls everyday in our work and we need to nurture their interest in technology, so they can one day soon form the next generation of young women creating and influencing technology.”
W.TEC needs $20,000 for next year’s programme, and they have to raise $5,000 from 40 donors by September 30 because that’s the only way they can get a permanent spot on Global Giving.
