Nigerian female footballer, Asisat Oshoala can easily pass as a football queen as she is a very talented player with a blooming career.

She won the ‘Female Player Of The Year Award’ at the just concluded 2016 GLO CAF Awards which yesterday, January 5, 2017.

Early Life

Born on 9 October 1994, Asisat Lamina Oshoala is a 22-year-old central midfielder who hails from Ikorodu, Lagos. She attended secondary school education at Aunty Ayo International School in Lagos and graduated in 2009.

Oshoala incurred the wrath of her parents when she dropped out of school to pursue a football career

Career

Oshoala started as a striker before being deployed as a central midfielder.

On 23 January 2015, Oshoala joined Liverpool Ladies. Liverpool manager, Matt Beard called her “one of the best young players in the world”. Although rumours had linked her with other clubs, she was very happy to join Liverpool.

Oshoala missed two months of the 2015 season with a knee injury, as defending champions Liverpool finished seventh of eight teams. In January 2016 Liverpool reported that a transfer bid from Arsenal Ladies had activated the release clause in Oshoala’s contract and that she was discussing personal terms with the London club.

Oshoala found success as a forward for Nigeria’s youth teams but made most of her early appearances for the senior national team as an attacking midfielder. She was nicknamed “Seedorf” after male footballer Clarence Seedorf and has also been referred to as “Superzee” by her teammates.

Relationship/Marriage

Asisat Oshoala is currently unmarried.

1. Golden Ball award for best player  and Golden Boot award for the top goal scorer (seven goals) at the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

2.Golden ball award for best player and second top goalscorer(four goals) with the Super Falcons team who won the 2014 African Women’s Championship.

3. GLO/CAF ‘Female Footballer Of The Year AwardIn 2014 .

4.BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year 2015.

4.In September 2014 Oshoala was made a Member of the Order of the Niger by President of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan.

5. Golden Boot award at the 2016 African Women Championship (AWCON) In Cameroon.
