Femi Kuti, during his performance at The New Afrika Shrine, held a single note on a saxophone for 46 minutes and 38 seconds, surpassing famed American saxophonist, Kenny G’s 1997 record.
Taking to her Instagram his sister, Yeni Kuti, shared the news with the world, saying:
“Yesterday evening 7th May at the New Africa Shrine, Femi Kuti broke the world record for the longest single note on a saxophone note set in 1997 by Kenny G. The record stood at 45mins 37 secs….Femi did 46mins 38secs!!

Although Yeni believes Femi is the new world record holder, a YouTube video shows the world record is in fact held by Vann Burchfield, who in 200o broke Kenny G’s record when he held a single note on a saxophone for 47 minutes, 6 seconds.
