Reports went viral a few days ago accusing 48-year-old R nB singer R Kelly of operating a ‘Sex Cult’ where he kept a number of teenage girls.
The women, who are of legal age of consent, currently live in some of R Kelly’s private homes, and according to the report, are given strict rules about how they can dress, how they interact with people, specifically other men, and how often they bathe.
The report describes the women becoming increasingly isolated from their friends and family – often a telltale sign of domestic abuse – as they have their phone numbers removed and replaced with a phone that only Kelly can call.
The women in question were spotted by Kelly as aspiring singers and according to their parents, the superstar made promises to mentor the young talent. But their relationships are said to have quickly turned sexual, with encounters regularly being filmed and allegedly distributed to Kelly’s friends.
R. Kelly has responded to disturbing abuse allegations related to a Buzzfeedarticle published Monday (July 17) with a statement from his lawyer saying the singer denies the report and will work to clear his name.
“Mr. Robert Kelly is both alarmed and disturbed by the recent revelations attributed to him,” Kelly’s lawyer, Linda Mensch, told Pitchfork in a statement. “Mr. Kelly unequivocally denies such accusations and will work diligently and forcibly to pursue his accusers and clear his name.
As the controversy surrounding R. Kelly‘s alleged “abusive sex cult” deepens, one of his alleged captives Joycelyn Savage has called on her father to stop embarrassing her and their family after he dared R. Kelly to sue him.

The parents had, in a report published by Buzzfeed on Monday, said that their daughter is being held against her will in R. Kelly’s rented mansion.
Joycelyn’s father, had also in a video released after she said she’s fine and happy where she’s at, said she didn’t disclose her location because “she’s not allowed to”.
He said that R. Kelly should sue him, adding that he is praying for his daughter.
