Cristiano Ronaldo has added another trophy to his already stacked collection after being crowned the IFFHS world’s best goalscorer for 2016.
The IFFHS (International Federation of Football History & Statistics) presented the trophy to the Real Madrid forward for his brilliant goalscoring record over the calendar year.
Ronaldo’s goals from club football and the national team are added together to get the player’s overall tally which is then recognised by the IFFHS.
This is the third time the former Manchester United player has won the award, the first individual to have achieved the feat.
Lionel Messi and Edinson Cavani were both in the running to receive the award after both the Argentinian and Uruguayan had stellar years for both club and country.
The IFFHS was founded in Leipzig, Germany in 1984 and gives out awards for the world’s best playmaker and best club coach, and more.
